Religious Trauma Research
To date, there has been very little research focused on Adverse Religious Experiences and Religious Trauma.
The Religious Trauma Institute is committed to expanding research efforts, and they are hosting a collaborative research group for religious trauma.
I’ll be sharing more journal articles here in the coming months, but for now, you’re invited to participate in an exploratory survey on Adverse Religious Experiences.

Online Peer-Support Groups
The following groups offer a range of support for deconstruction, deconversion, and challenges associated with adverse religious experiences and religious trauma.
The Life After hosts a secure Facebook Group and Slack Channel for people deconstructing Christian Fundamentalism and other oppressive religion.
Exvangelical is a Facebook community for those who have left evangelicalism/fundamentalism to share stories of their experiences (and to support one another as they process) with others in a safe, affirming, private space.
Mental Health for Exvangelicals
A Facebook support group for former evangelicals.
Raising Children UnFundamentalist
A parenting Facebook group hosted by Cindy Wang Brandt of Parenting Forward. The group is focused on helping parents raise children without the toxic influence of fundamentalism.
